Biography.
I am first and foremost a typographer. I have been a member – and a former chairman – of the Typographic Circle from its beginnings as The Type Directors’ Club in 1978 and I’m now an honorary life member. I saw InDesign 2 in 2003 I realised that there was now a serious rival to Quark .
At the time I was working as Type Director and Head of Studio at St. Luke’s advertising agency.
I formed my own company, Sparking Inc. Ltd in 2003 providing training and design and I also teach at various colleges and universities.

Present day: Sparking Inc. Ltd 1995-2003 St. Luke’s: Type Director & Head of Studio. 1991-1995 Chiat/Day. Type Director. 1980-1991 DMB&B. Type Director. 1978-1980 Marsteller Advertising. Type Director. Prior to 1978 I worked in various studios and advertising agencies having started at Ogilvy & Mather. Now that I am in the privileged position of being able to teach and lecture I like to feel that I bring professional practicality to my students.
